Design text reads:
Mike “Mickey” Barrett is often remembered as one of if not the most talented player to have played for Bristol Rovers. He signed from local side Shirehampton Sports in 1979 and went on to make 129 appearances for the Gas scoring 18 goals. Barrett was a mainstay in a 1983-84 side that came close to promotion, utilising his well-known speed and trickery to hit nine league goals. Barrett's story came to a tragic end when during the following pre-season he was taken ill and shortly afterwards died of cancer, aged just twenty-four.
